What I Can Teach You About Help
Playing Mom during the Power Outage
Being a mom is overwhelming no wonder you will find so many blogs talking about moms. Just like there is no guidebook to help you along, there is no shortage of responsibility as the role of a mom transcends almost every sub-category there is from cleaning the house to washing clothes, dropping kids to schools to the underpaid chef. You now agree that being a mom is stressful not to forget the kind of stress that they can experience when there is a blackout.
Blackouts can be a thing, most last for hours while others could go for days which is why you need to be prepared. Here is how you can be prepared for the sake of your sanity and that of your family.
While batteries are essential; they will not help you make the transition from being a mom to a blackout mom easily. It is here that the generator guide comes in handy. While the generator may not light you your whole house, it can light up a few lights, the fridge freezer, the TV, a heater and your coffee pot for six hours a day on a gallon of gas. You don’t have to panic with a generator in place.
Foods that Lat Long
It doesn’t necessarily mean that you fill your underground bunker with canned foods, but a selection of ready-to-eat and non-perishable foods makes your cooking easier. The only thing that your family need to remain comfortable is heat and food, so the next time you go grocery shopping, be sure to but enough canned food for your entire kitchen shelf. Make sure that you buy items like canned vegetables, fruits, meat, instant coffee, soups, beans and anything else you think of including snacks
There is nothing that can be as romantic as the allure of a house lit with candles with the raging storms outside. It is, however, unrealistic, inefficient and hazardous as many house fires are started by candles lit during blackouts. What you need instead is a selection of flashlights and camping lanterns and numerous batteries. As long as you have them hidden in a place that is practical, then you are fine. If you have lights, then you have the chance for some fun like reading on the sofa, playing a crazy good game of hide and seek, or board games.
With the heat gone, you will find your home not being the chipper place it once was. This is why you need to store up some extra blankets and quilts so that you can all snuggle up during those cold nights. If you have stored sleeping bags in your garage, grab them too; anything that can prevent the chill is good to boost your morale.
